Police are appealing for information after a delivery driver was robbed and brutally attacked in Toxteth.

It's reported two men approached the delivery driver as he collected the parcels on Sefton Street at around 8.45am on Friday.

They knocked him to the ground and kicked him in the face before making off with 12 parcels containing jewellery in a stolen car, along with the keys to the delivery van.

The suspected robbers left the stolen car on Sefton Street before making off in a further vehicle up Northumberland Street towards Mill Street.

The stolen car was later recovered for forensic examination.

If anyone has further information or CCTV, smart doorbell footage or dashcam footage at around 8.45am in the Sefton Street/ Northumberland Grove/Mill Street area , police are asking them to get in touch.

Detective Constable Carl Woods said: “We are appealing for information on this robbery that left the victim hurt and shaken.

“This man was just doing his job when he was attacked by these violent men. Everyone in Merseyside should be able to earn a living without fear of something like this happening to them.

“We take all reports of robbery and attempted robbery extremely seriously. It is an offence that can shatter confidence and make people feel unsafe in the heart of our communities.

“Theft is not a victimless crime and has a huge impact on not only the business but the community as well.”
