CCTV released by police investigating Kirkby shooting
A man was shot in the leg on Ormonde Crescent on Saturday
Detectives investigating a shooting in Kirkby have issued CCTV footage of a number of bikes that were seen in the area at the time.
A report was received at around 9pm on Saturday 1 June that a 31-year-old man had been shot on Ormonde Crescent. The victim self-presented at hospital for treatment to a knee injury. He has since been released from hospital.
Police have now issued CCTV footage of six bikes – believed to be a mixture of electric bikes and Su-Ron bikes - which were seen been ridden along Simonswood Lane at the junction of Westhead Lane just minutes prior to shooting taking place.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Atkinson said: “Clearly all those on the bikes are dressed in dark clothing and with their faces covered but I am sure there are people who would have seen these bikes being ridden in convoy, dangerously and on the wrong side of the road on Saturday evening.
“I want to know where these bikes came from and where they went afterwards and I would ask anyone living in the area who has a doorbell camera or CCTV or anyone who was driving in their area and has a dashcam to check their cameras to check if they captured anything significant.
“We know that there are people living in the community who know who these people are and where these bikes are being stored and I would urge them to come forward with that information so we can take positive action.
