Body found on Formby beach in connection with search for missing man

A body has been found on Formby beach as part of a missing person's investigation on Merseyside.

Officers from Merseyside Police had been searching for Theeraphat Khongthale after he was last seen on the beach on February 3rd.

Khongthale had gone missing on February 10th, prompting a county-wide missing to find him.

The force confirmed on Sunday (February 15th) that during their search for the missing 23-year-old that a body had been found on the beach.

Khongthale's disappearance had been treated as an urgent appeal by officers, who had become increasingly concerned for his health.

Merseyside Police have now said that they are treating the man's death as "unexplained" while investigations are ongoing.

They added that while the body is yet to be formally identified, a post-mortem on the body will be carried out in due course to find out the cause of death.
