The family of one of the three little girls killed in last month's knife attack in Southport have thanked the local community for their support.

A service for Bebe King was held the weekend before last with people and businesses coming out to help with funeral costs.

The family have now thanked the firms, as well as the rest of the community for showing respect to their family during the challenging time.

In a statement on Facebook on behalf of the family, the funeral directors posted:

"Bebe’s family have asked us to pass their most sincere thanks to the community for the respect shown at her celebration of life held on Saturday 17th August.

"Lauren, Ben and Genie were able to honour Bebe’s beautiful life in a very special private service surrounded by family and friends who loved and knew Bebe best.

"They also acknowledge the love and support shown on the route to church by so many people which meant a very great deal to them and pass on their thanks for such a beautiful local tribute.

"They wish to sincerely thank Reverend Rebecca Clarke and her team from St Cuthberts Parish Church for her support and guidance and for leading such a heartfelt and beautiful service.

"Special thanks also go to the Snowdrop bereavement team at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital for all their love and support and also to Merseyside Police for all their help throughout and in particular to their Family Liaison Officers, Chris and Jay who have worked tirelessly to assist them.

"The family are especially grateful to the following, all of whom have refused to accept any payment for their services in the hope that it instead be retained within the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital charity and used to help others in need.

"David, Wendy and the Team at Massam and Marshall Independent Funeral Directors, Kyla and her team from Horse Drawn Carriages North West and to the Southport Mormon Church for use of their facilities for the horses, Fred Hamers Funeral Services for use of their fleet, Thorley Smiths of Wigan, Wetherbys, Flexipress Printing in Ormskirk for the beautiful order of service, Max Spielman in Southport for providing the beautiful print images in church and to the Grand on Lord Street for welcoming the congregation following the service and indeed for anyone who has assisted in anyway.

"Thank you 🩷"
