Arrests after loaded gun found in West Derby
Police have questioned a man and a woman
A man and a woman have been arrested after a loaded gun was found during a police raid on a house in West Derby.
Officers carried out searches of the home and a car on Monday 08 September, where they discovered a large amount of cash, nitrous oxide cannisters, cannabis and the weapon.
A 29-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, both from Liverpool, have been arrested on suspicion of:
- possessing a firearm of length less than 30/60cm
- possessing ammunition for a firearm without a certificate
- possessing nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation
- possession with intent to supply a Class B drug (cannabis)
- acquiring/using/possessing criminal property
The woman has been conditionally bailed pending further inquiries and the man remains in police custody.
Detective Inspector Chris Clark from our Firearms Investigation Team said: “These two arrests and the seizure of this weapon forms part of our proactive work to disrupt suspected criminal activity.
“I hope it sends a clear message to those involved in serious and organised crime that we are relentless in proactively pursing criminals to bring them to justice.
“We would urge residents to get in touch if you have information on those involved in drug dealing or have weapons stored so we can remove them from our streets.
“We rely on information given to us by the public and this makes a huge difference in identifying suspects, seizing weapons and removing suspects who would bring lethal weapons onto our streets.”
