12 year old dies after falling at park in Winsford
An investigation is underway into an incident at Wharton Recreation Ground
A 12 year old boy has died after falling at a park in Winsford in Cheshire.
Emergency services were called to Wharton Recreation Ground yesterday evening (Friday 29th August 2025).
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said:
"At around 6.11pm, officers in Winsford were notified by colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service of an incident at a park in the town.
"Attending the scene near to Ledward Street, Winsford, officers found that a 12-year-old boy had been seriously injured after falling from park apparatus.
"The boy was treated at the scene by paramedics but, sadly, despite best efforts, he passed away at the scene.
"His next of kin have been made aware and are currently being supported by specialist officers."
Detective Sergeant John Rhodes from Cheshire Police's Protecting Vulnerable People Investigations Unit said:
“This was a deeply tragic incident involving a very young victim and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the boy who sadly died at the scene.
“As part of our investigation into this incident, we are asking anyone who may have been in or around the Wharton Recreation Ground area just off Ledward Street in Winsford at around the time of the incident and saw anything that may aid us in our enquiries, to please get in touch.
“At this stage I would also like to ask the public not to feed into any speculation, particularly on social media, as this remains an ongoing investigation.”
