"You bring it here, you take it home" says beach campaigner on record levels of rubbish
Ten times more rubbish was collected by Sutton Sea Beach Care following the hot weather
A local campaigner is urging people planning to visit Lincolnshire's beaches this weekend to be responsible for their litter.
Ten times the amount of rubbish was collected by Sutton Sea Beach Care following the recent hot weather.
"20 bags in a weekend is ridiculous figures," said Lianne Havell, founder of Sutton on Sea Beach Care, "if the bins are full because it's been really busy, go find another bin or take it home...it's not rocket science."
"We've had things like disposable barbecues, and obviously the dangers that come with those, somebody standing on one.
"From that to shoes, to nappies, which are not very nice, bottles - you name it, we've had it."
Lianne and her team went out on Saturday 21, Sunday 22 and Monday 23 June to collect litter that had been left on Sutton on Sea beach.
With more hot weather forecast this weekend, she's asking people to take care of Lincolnshire's beaches.
"I had a dispute with a lady, saying that if the bins were full it wasn't her problem if she just dropped stuff down by the bins.
"I told her but it is your responsibility, you bring it here you take it home with you."
"If you're coming to the beach this weekend, please come and enjoy yourself and have a lovely time.
"But please, please, please be responsible with your litter."
