Scunthorpe's MP calls for urgent meetings to discuss situation at the town's steelworks
It's thought the installation of new blast furnaces could mean redundancies

As MPs return to Parliament today after the general election questions are being asked about what the change of Government will mean for the future of Scunthorpe steelworks.
British Steel wants to move to new electric blast furnaces, but it's feared that could mean significant redundancies
Sir Nic Dakin is now the MP for Scunthorpe.
He lost to Conservative Holly Mumby Croft in the 2019 election but the position was reversed last week.
The previous Government had discussed with British Steel possible investment to help them but agreement wasn't reached.
It will need goodwill and hard work from both sides.
We've been speaking to Sir Nic about the matter.
He told us:
"There needs to be urgent meetings to make sure we have the steel industry the country needs,"
"But also to have a huge impact on local jobs and local families."
" I think Jingye - British Steel - want a resolution quickly - so does the new Government."
"But it will need goodwill and hard work from both sides."

Meanwhile Sir Nic is among MPs taking their place in the new Parliament today.
Last week Labour won a strong majority and now the business of Government gets underway.
