Spalding Grammar School has confirmed it will be closed on Friday 5th September after a leak left Anglian Water unable to guarantee supply will be restored in time for lessons.

Executive headteacher Mrs Anderson says the school will not be using remote learning on Friday and she expects a normal return on Monday 8th September.

In a statement the school said: “Regrettably, the news from Anglian Water is not positive and they are unable to guarantee that the water supply will be restored to the School in time for us to begin lessons tomorrow.”

Anglian Water has apologised for the continued problems with supply.

In a statement, they said:

“We’re really sorry that some customers in Spalding are still seeing issues with their water supply.

"Bottled water deliveries are continuing through the night. Our teams have repaired the burst mains which initially caused this, but we’ve now found another burst on the pipe.

"We’re working on site to repair this third burst and get everyone back on water as quickly as we can.”

They added that St Thomas’ Road at the junction with Winsover Road is now closed, along with the existing closures on Winsover Road and Haverfield Road. The company is aiming to have supplies restored by midday on Friday.

Customers are being reassured that cloudy or discoloured water is safe to drink and should clear after running the tap for a short while.

To ease congestion from diverted school buses, families are being asked not to drop off or collect close to the school grounds.
