Five police cars have been badly damaged in Grimsby after it's believed bricks were thrown at them by a group of youths.

It's reported to have happened between Thursday last week and Monday when the vehicles were on the Nunsthorpe estate.

Both rear and front windows were impacted.

It's said they then fled on motorcycles.

Police released a statement.

We will always take action to identify those responsible and deal with them accordingly

Chief Inspector Simon Duffield said: “We will not tolerate behaviour of this kind in our community, it is totally unacceptable.

“These incidents have taken five police vehicles off our roads, and it also posed a significant risk to the drivers had they not been inside the vehicle during the incident.

“We will always take action to identify those responsible and deal with them accordingly."

"Someone will know who did this and I would appeal for people to contact us if they have information about the incidents."

The criminal behaviour of a small minority will not deter us from our efforts to keeping our communities safe

“We will be relentless in our efforts to identify those responsible and pursue all lines of enquiry to ensure they are held to account. Such mindless and targeted vandalism will not be tolerated.

“We are proud to be a part of the Nunsthorpe community and the criminal behaviour of a small minority will not deter us from our efforts to keeping our communities safe – this will always be our priority.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time, or has any information, CCTV or dashcam footage which may assist with our enquiries, to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101.”
