Nigel Farage has been in Lincolnshire campaigning ahead of the upcoming local and Mayoral elections.

The Reform UK leader held a rally at the showground near Lincoln.

The party is hoping to make gains in the county after their deputy leader Richard Tice became the MP for Boston and Skegness at the last election.

We sent our reporter Cara Bostock to speak to Mr Farage.

She said when I spoke to Rachel Reeves she said she'd got the balance right on the farmer's inheritance tax.

Has she?

"No of course not - you've got an elderly widower or widow who might only have a few years to live - they're terrified a family farm that might have been in the family for 5 or ten generations effectively becomes unviable because you have to sell off a proportion of the land to pay off the tax."

"The revenue farming now gives against the value of the land is so low that it makes it unviable."

"I'm a hundred per cent behind the farmers."

She also asked about solar farms.

He told us: "We're going to stop producing food and import vast numbers of Chinese made solar panels backed up by battery systems."

"We're dead against solar and frankly the whole net zero agenda is insane."

"It's giving us ever more expensive electricity prices and de-industrialising the countryside."

"It was known as the bomber county - in future it'll be the pylon county - it'll be the substation county - it'll be the solar farm county."

"Of all the grade one agricultural land in the country Lincolnshire has got the most of it"

The Government has previously said solar farms shouldn't go on high quality agricultural land and achieving net zero is key.

They also said the inheritance tax is fair and balanced measure which will impact only a relatively small number of farms.
