Newark and Sherwood District Council has organised business support events to help local businesses gain valuable advice and support on expanding their operations and keeping themselves safe from cybercrime.

The Cyber Resilience Workshop on Wednesday 20th March has been organised in partnership with the East Midlands Cyber Resilience Centre.

It's being held from 10am - 12.30pm at the Aura Centre in Newark.

The council tells us it will focus on what businesses should do as 'standard practice' for cyber security, how to secure customer data securely, what common cyber threats are and how to look out for and protect against them.

The police established the East Midlands Cyber Resilience Centre to improve the online resilience of businesses, schools and charities in the area.

Councillor Matthew Spoors, Portfolio Holder for Sustainable Economic Development at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: "We offer a wide range of support events businesses can take advantage of, and I am really excited we can include two new events to help our business community.

"Natwest Enterprise are an incredibly useful tool that helps entrepreneurs run or grow their business. They offer a wide range of support that businesses may want to utilise, and it's great we've been able to organise for them to come to the district and chat with local businesses. Therefore, I encourage anyone looking for some financial advice to come to the drop-in session to see what they can do for you.

"Additionally, in this day and age, it is so important that we are safe online. The Cyber Resilience Workshop will provide businesses with hints and tips on how to keep their operations safe and secure. If you think you could benefit from attending this workshop, please get in touch to book your place."
