A 23-year-old man has died after a crash on the A1 near Newark.

Emergency services were called to North Muskham following the incident on the southbound carriageway around 8.30pm on Thursday (18 September).

An Audi A3 and a Renault Traffic van were involved in a collision and a man who was travelling in the Audi later died in hospital.

A woman, who was also in the Audi, suffered injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening in nature.

The road was closed overnight while investigations took place but has now reopened.

Officers want to speak to anyone who was on the A1 at the time and witnessed either of these vehicles in the moments prior to the collision or has recorded dashcam footage.

Detective Sergeant Charlotte Henson, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “The man’s family is being supported by specialist officers following this tragic incident.

“They have asked for privacy at what must be an extremely difficult time.

“We’d still like to hear from anyone with any relevant dashcam footage of the incident who has not yet spoken to an officer, or anyone who may have witnessed the collision.”
