Man charged after gun fired near Gainsborough cemetery

A 32-year-old man has been charged with the possession of a shotgun with intent to cause fear of violence, and criminal damage.

The man from Gainsborough has been remanded into custody.

Police originally were called out to reports of a firearm being discharged near Gainsborough cemetery, last month (8 October).

Officers say they have been actively investigating this case since the incident was reported, and the man was arrested following a warrant carried out at Brocklesby Close in Gainsborough on Thursday, 31 October.

John Thomas Maughan has been remanded into custody to appear at Lincoln Magistrates' Court today (November 2)

A 43-year-old woman who was arrested for assisting an offender has been released on police bail.

A 20-year-old man, was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender (31 October) and has been released on bail.

Police say their investigations are continuing, and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
