Man arrested after laser shone at helicopter in Grimsby

Police received a call from the aircraft reporting the incident while they were searching for a missing person

Police have made an arrest following reports of a laser pen being shone at a helicopter in the Grimsby area yesterday (Thursday, 15 May).

At around 9.50pm Police received a call from crew inside the aircraft reporting a laser pen was being shone at them, causing this to affect their vision whilst carrying out searches for a missing person in the Grimsby area.

Following lines of enquiries, a 23-year-old man was swiftly identified and arrested on suspicion of two counts of shining a laser beam towards a vehicle or aircraft.

He remains in police custody.

Humberside Police said:

"If anyone has any information that may assist with our enquiries, please contact us on our non-emergency number 101, quoting log 530 of 15 May."
