Lincoln city centre will be buzzing with creativity on Saturday 20 September as the Teenage Market returns, giving more than 20 young entrepreneurs the chance to showcase everything from handmade crafts to quirky gifts.

Seventeen year old Meghan Barnard makes and sells her own jewellery. For her, selling at markets has been life-changing.

“I used to be such a quiet person, and I think if I hadn't started doing this, I would probably just still be so shy,” she said.

“Doing markets, you have no other choice but to talk to people. If you want to be successful and sell stuff, you have to do it.”

Meghan has been attending markets since she was twelve.

“It's probably the best way I can express my creativity too, because I just find it so interesting to sit and come up with new ideas and new designs and then bring them to life and see that other people like them as well.”

Alongside the stalls, there will be free live performances and family-friendly activities, including arts and crafts, a climbing wall, DJ workshops and a skate park in the Cornhill Quarter.

Co-founder Joe Barratt said: “These events aren’t just markets - they’re a celebration of youth and talent… the biggest takeaway has to be the confidence boost from making a sale.”

The Teenage Market takes place in City Square from 10am to 4pm.
