Farmers from across Lincolnshire heading to Lincoln's City Hall to demand policy change.

Trucks, tractors and farm vehicles have formed two convoys into Lincoln, protesting changes to inheritance tax as well as post-Brexit subsidy reforms.

Lincolnshire is often described as the bread and veg basket of the country due to it's scale of food production, which some now feel is under threat.

Ian Haines is a farmer from Coningsby near Lincoln and has helped organise Monday's protest: "We work every hour there is trying to keep up with policy changes.

The regulations we have to abide by," said Ian.

Who wants to go out and work all the hours that we do for £10,000?

"All we want to do is what we do best - look after land, grow and produce food everyone needs to eat.

"I spoke to a farmer a few weeks back, and he told me that last year he could only pay himself £10,000 for the year.

Who wants to go out and work all the hours that we do for £10,000?" added Ian.

The group has chosen City Hall as it's stopping point due to being where many Labour councillors work.

They also hope Labour MP Hamish Falcon will engage in conversation with them.

"Lincoln is a Labour city."

"We want to make ourselves heard outside and hopefully get some dialog with people, councillors, MPs, members of the public," said Ian Haines.

"The main thing we want is to abolish the inheritance tax for everybody, not just talking about farmers. That is main pushing point, but there's so many other things now, one after the other, week after week, something else is pushed on us."

The Government has previously said changes to farm inheritance tax are fair and will only impact a relatively small number of farms.
