Spring's here which can only mean one thing, it's time to refresh your dating profile and secure yourself a summer romance...
We’ve spent the long winter hibernating inside, eating biscuits and catching up on Game of Thrones. But now the weather’s starting to perk up (sunnier days are coming we’re sure of it) we’re dreaming about picnics outside and meeting new people.
So you know what that means? Time to refresh and reboot our dating profiles. You may think your profile’s fine, but that picture you uploaded two years ago may not be the best representation of you now.
Here are some tips to successfully spring clean your profile…
Tip 1: Mention springtime It may seem silly but you’re making your profile more current, for example you could say: “Now that spring is here, I’m looking forward to walking more or running outdoors. By mentioning the season and what it means to you you’re letting prospective dates know what interests you have and what you might enjoy doing together.
Tip 2: Swap out your old photos for new ones Ever passed over a profile while browsing your online matches because you recognized the photo and remembered not being interested the first time? Unfortunately, other online daters might be doing the same. By changing your photos for fresh ones (upload some new photos, or rotate them) you will increased the odds of catching someone’s attention – and if you don’t have a photo we recommend adding one. You’re 15 times more likely to receive an ice breaker message if you do.
Tip 3: Update your ‘About Me’ When you first wrote your profile, you might have listed books, movies or holidays you’d been on. And now you have more to say? Adding books and movies is a good way to refresh your profile while including a great conversation starter for people wanting to get in touch.
Tip 4: Give your opening line a makeover It’s the equivalent of a face to face “Hello” so… “Giving Online dating a try” “Gloomy guy seeks funny girl” “Good times ahead” just won’t do. You’ve seen plenty of these headlines so think of something different and intriguing.
Tip 5: Use seasonal topics to showcase your personality This is a great way of keeping you profile current. A really simple example that is great for encouraging a response is: “Am I the only one that takes three weeks to adjust to daylight saving time?” A profile that shows off the real you and your personality is going to serve you better than one full of clichés and is better than a generic one.
