Tribute are being paid to a Lancashire man killed in Storm Darragh at the weekend.

Paul Fiddler, who's been named locally, is reported to be the Assistant Manager of non-league Lytham Town FC, with the club describing him as a “well-loved coach, football player, gaffer but most of all a true friend.”

Paul died after a tree fell onto his Citroen van whilst travelling along the A59 in Longton on Saturday morning.

Emergency services tried to help, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a post on social media, Lytham Town said: "Today, we would like to take the time to remember a Lytham Town FC legend Paul Fiddler. A well loved Coach, Football Player, Gaffer but most of all a true Friend.

Paul, thank you for everything mate. Our thoughts are with the Lytham Town lads, his friends and family at this time.

Rest in Peace Paul. We will miss you"

Police say Paul's family are being supported by specialist officers.
