Three arrests after man injured during Southport motorbike theft

A man in his 20s remains in a serious condition in hospital

Three men have been arrested as police continue to investigate a motorbike theft in Southport.

A man in his 20s sustained serious head and chest injuries after reportedly falling from the rear of a moving white Peugeot Boxer van during the theft on The Promenade / Leyland Road on Friday night.

He remains in his hospital.

Merseyside Police say three people are being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder.

The trio - a 22-year-old man from Liverpool city centre. a 22-year-old man from Wavertree, and a 19-year-old man from Liverpool city centre - remain in custody.

Investigations are continuing and Merseyside Police are asking any witnesses, or people with CCTV footage, to get in contact.
