Police and emergency service partners have been at Rivington reservoir this morning (Saturday 19 April) following the discovery of two grenade type devices.

Officers say items were found at the side of the reservoir at shortly before 8am.

A team from Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) have attended the site on Horrobin Lane and assessed the devices which appear to be training grenades from the 1940s-1960s.

Officers say they were previously deactivated and posed no threat.

A cordon which was in place earlier has now been stood down and the area is open again for public access.
