A 14-year-old pupil from Stonyhurst College has taken centre stage at one of the world’s biggest music festivals — after being discovered playing piano on a family ski holiday.

Bergie, a Music Scholar in Year 9, performed a moving 20-minute set at Glastonbury’s exclusive Camp Kerala stage on opening night, after impressing the founder with his rendition of Ludovico Einaudi’s Experience in a hotel lobby in Val d’Isère.

The performance earned him a standing ovation — and an invitation to return in 2027.

“Playing at Glastonbury was truly amazing,” said Bergie. “My face is sore from smiling so much!”

In the run-up to the festival, Bergie was mentored by Mark Crown of Rudimental, who’s worked with stars like Ed Sheeran and Rita Ora. His teachers at Stonyhurst say they’re incredibly proud of his talent and dedication.

“He plays with real emotion and control,” said Mr Haynes, Assistant Director of Music. “It’s not every day a 14-year-old ends up on a Glastonbury stage.”

Stonyhurst College is known for its strong musical tradition, with grand pianos dotted across campus and a culture that encourages students to share their talents.

With a return to Glastonbury already lined up, Bergie’s musical journey is just beginning — and it’s one we’ll be watching closely.
