Police in Lancashire are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal collision in the village of Pendleton.

Officers from the force first received reports of an incident taking place on Whalley Road at about 2:45p.m. on Friday (June 14th).

When responders arrived at the scene, they found a man in his 70s had been hit by a blue Toyota C-HR.

The man in his 70s, who was believed to be a pedestrian walking on the road, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. No one in the Toyota car was injured in the incident.

Lancashire Police are now asking for anyone who have any potential information to help officers in their investigations to come forward.

Speaking on the case, Detective Sergeant Helen Parkinson from Lancashire Police's Serious Collision Unit paid tribute to the victim.

"This collision has resulted in a man losing his life and my thoughts are with his loved ones at this extremely distressing time," she said.

"As part of our ongoing enquiries we are asking for any witnesses or anyone with CCTV, mobile phone or dashcam footage which would assist our investigation to come forward.

"We would also like to hear from anyone who saw or has footage of a blue Toyota C-HR in Clitheroe prior to the collision."

Anyone who may have any information regarding the incident can get in touch with the force by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 765 from June 14th.
