Four firefighters injured after vehicle overturns in Lancashire
It happened on the M65 on Saturday
Four firefighters have been injured after the appliance they were travelling in crashed on the M65 in Lancashire.
The fire engine overturned whilst on the entry slip-road for junction 10, near Burnley, on Saturday afternoon
Lancashire Fire & Rescue say it wasn't travelling on blue lights at the time, and four of its firefighters were taken to hospital for assessment.
They have since been discharged.
In a statement on X, Steve Healey, Deputy Chief Fire Officer at Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “Sadly four of our colleagues were hurt but thankfully avoided more serious injuries and we are supporting them and their families.
“I would like to acknowledge the crews who responded to the incident with utmost professionalism despite the obvious pressure of dealing with an incident involving colleagues.
“Thank you also to our partners for their support during the incident particularly the health professionals who treated the crew. The whole Service is wishing them a quick and full recovery.”
An investigation is now underway.
