Countdown on for the start of Blackpool illuminations

A preview event has taken place highlighting the Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On.

The big event takes place on Friday 29th August.

Olly Murs will be on stage at Blackpool’s Tower Festival Headland to deliver an hour-long set, completely free, before he turns on the six miles of Illuminations.

The Creative Curator is Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and one of their new artists for this year is Jason Wilsher-Mills MBE.

The leader of Blackpool Council Lynn Williams says it adds so much to the town.

"As a resident I love it, driving back, you realise how lucky you are seeing this, the amount of affection people have for the designs and the lights."
