Pleasure Beach bosses 'continuing to work hard' after Big One sensor malfunction
It meant the seaside town's famous rollercoaster wasn't running on the opening day of the season for the Resort
For thrill-seekers from across the UK, and around the globe, the start of the theme park season is always greeted with much excitement - however, it was a slower than expected start yesterday (March 2nd) at Blackpool's Pleasure Beach.
It was all because of a 'sensor malfunction' on arguably one of their most famous rides - the 'Big One', with the team said to be 'working hard' to get it back up and running again, in the year the ride itself turns 30 years old.
It was an issue their CEO, Amanda Thompson OBE, said was an issue 'beyond my control'.
Despite engineers working on the park during the time it's been closed, it seems that they really couldn't have planned for every eventuality - with the UK's tallest rollercoaster just coming out of a bout of re-tracking and a brand-new paint job for the 2024 season.
It's also been confirmed that the Grand Prix won't be working this year as the park works on a 'new attraction'.
A spokesperson from Pleasure Beach Resort said: “Our teams have been working around the clock to get the park ready for opening. We experienced a delay on the Big One ride due to a sensor malfunction. The team is continuing to work hard to open the ride as soon as possible.
“We would like to offer anyone who visited us on Saturday the opportunity to return to the park on Sunday, free of charge."
