16-year-old arrested after police officer hit in Blackburn hit and run

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested after a police officer was hit by a stolen vehicle in a hit-and-run in Blackburn.
At just before 8pm on Tuesday (2 April), police were called to New Chapel Street following reports a black Volkswagen Polo mobility car has been stolen between 26 March and 2 April.
The car was spotted on Fred Pickering Place at just before midday - an officer went to the front of the vehicle to speak with the driver.
The car was then deliberately driven at the officer, causing him to go onto the bonnet and then onto the ground. The Volkswagen then collided with a Seat Leon.
The officer was taken to hospital but his injuries were not serious.
Following enquiries, officer arrested a 16-year-old boy on Friday on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, Section 18 Assault and dangerous driving. He remains in custody.
Lancashire Constabulary say they are continuing to look for the stolen Volkswagen.
