Worcester Warriors men's side set to play at home for first time in nearly three years

For the first time in nearly three years, Worcester Warriors' men's side are to play their first home match this evening in a pre-season friendly.
They're set to take on Premiership team Bath tonight {kick-off at 7:45pm) in what will mark 1,091 days since Warriors last played at home, coach Matt Everard naming 28 players in his matchday squad.
Warriors played their last match back on 24 September 2022 at Sixways, beating Newcastle Falcons 39-5 before entering administration just days later.
The club confirmed back in April it had been accepted to join the revamped second tier of English rugby union for the 2025/26 season, formerly known as the Championship but now named Champ Rugby, formally applying for a place in the league back in November 2024.
Worcester Warriors Supporters Trust chairman Marcus Mulcahy is one of many fans set to be in attendance later, he says he can't wait and it'll be a special moment seeing the team take to the field.
"It's just going to be a really awesome experience," he said.
"I think it sounds like Bath are going to be putting together a pretty strong team for us to play against, the team is going to be running on in their blue and gold shirts for the first time in many years.
"I'm looking forward to seeing all the people we sit around who I haven't seen much of over the last three years but there's loads of things to look forward to and it's going to be a great night."
Ahead of the game the club have also announced 32-year-old back-rower Matt Rogerson as their new captain.
The side officially get their Champ Rugby campaign up and running on October 4 at home to Coventry.
