Officers have launched an appeal for witnesses after a serious crash on the A40.

We're told enquiries into the incident are ongoing - after a car crashed into a tree.

Three men were injured, with the driver having to be airlifted to hospital.

In a statement, West Mercia Police told us: "Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision on the A40 in Pencraig yesterday. (3 April)

"The collision occurred around 2.45pm and involved one car, a white Seat Ibiza, which was travelling westbound in the direction of Monmouth. The car collided with a tree and was extensively damaged.

"Three men, who were travelling in the car, were injured. The driver sustained serious injuries to his pelvis and legs and was taken to hospital by air ambulance. One passenger sustained a broken leg and was also air lifted to hospital. A second passenger was treated in hospital for a head injury."

PC Jon Lynes said “ Enquiries are ongoing to establish how this collision has occurred. We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or who may have seen the Seat Ibiza prior to the collision.
