Patrol officers work hard to keep communities safe, says West Mercia Police
This week is the response policing week of action
West Mercia Police patrol officers say it's important for them to continue to show their presence across Herefordshire and Worcestershire to keep communities safe.
It comes as this week is the response policing week of action, aimed at giving a look at what those who head out to calls throughout the day and night do.
Sergeant Zoe Boucher says they work around the clock all year long to help and offer support.
She said: "It's important for police officers to be seen in the street and have that community engagement and faith from the public that we're going to respond to the jobs that they report or need us to attend.
"People only call the police in a moment of need, so it's vital for us to be out there and present so that we can get to where we need to when that call comes in."
Rebecca Paley is one of the officers who covers the Worcestershire area, and she says having a presence in places can help people feel safer.
"The job itself is very full on," she said.
"There's times where you see where you've helped and the impact you give to the community, and you realise what you're doing can help make that community feel safe."
