Murder investigation launched after attack in Worcester

A murder investigation is now underway in Worcester after a man died following an attack on Barbourne Road.

The 30-year-old was found with serious injuries by officers just after 4am yesterday morning (25/11) and died in hospital later that day.

Six men aged between 22 and 35 have been arrested and remain in custody, while police continue to search for evidence in the area.

West Mercia Police confirmed: "The victim, a 30-year-old man, was found on Barbourne Road in Worcester by officers at around 4.15am yesterday morning (Tuesday 25 November).

"He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but sadly died later that day.

"His death is now being investigated as murder.

"Shortly after the attack yesterday, five men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

"A sixth man was arrested yesterday afternoon. The men, aged between 22 and 35, all remain in custody."

'This incident has shocked the local community'

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Holehouse, said: “First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim.

“I know this incident has shocked the local community. I’d like to reassure you that we’re working hard and at pace to understand what happened yesterday, and that at this stage there is nothing to suggest any wider risk to the public.

“A scene guard remains in place on Barbourne Road while we collect evidence and carry out enquiries, and you’ll continue to see an increased police presence in the area throughout today.”
