Herefordshire Young and Young Adult Carers group believes role sometimes goes unnoticed
People aged from 6-25 can be classed as young, or young adult carers
The founder of the Herefordshire Young and Young Adult Carers group say some people don't even realise that they are carrying out a caring role.
People aged from 6-25 across the county can be classed as young and young adult carers, if they provide help for a family member or a friend.
Susan Brace says children doing the job can go unnoticed, and it's important to help them find a balance.
"We're trying to make sure that they can enjoy their childhood, alongside doing the role," she said.
"A child might be responsible for getting the shopping, they might be the person who makes sure the bills are paid on time, so there's all these little clues that this person is doing extra, but often they don't realise they're doing extra because it's just what you do in your family.
"You can't take a caring role off somebody completely, and often carers wouldn't want that because they're doing what they do out of love, but it's about making sure that they're not doing so much that it's having a negative impact on their lives, and they have a balance."
Those under the age of 18 are known as a young carer, with people aged from 16-25 also able to be referred to as a young adult carer.
