Gloucestershire climber beats own record for the most climbs of Mount Everest

A British climber has beaten his own record for the most climbs of Mount Everest by a non-Sherpa.

Kenton Cool, from Gloucestershire, completed his 19th ascent of the world's highest mountain this morning (18 May).

The 51-year-old first climbed Everest in 2004 and has repeated the feat almost every year since.

Mr Cool scaled the 8,849-metre peak on Sunday along with several other climbers.

Nepali Sherpa, Kami Rita, holds the record for the greatest number of ascents of Everest by any person - completing the challenge 30 times.
