Person dies after being hit by train in Essex

There's been disruption on Greater Anglia trains, after a person was hit by a train in Essex.

It happened this morning.

A Greater Anglia spokesperson said: “Services on the Great Eastern Main Line have been disrupted, following a person hit by a train in the Chelmsford area.

“It happened around 10:30 this morning and the emergency services are currently on site.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Anyone who was delayed for more than 15 minutes can claim delay repay here"

The company says the line has now re-opened and services ahould start to return to normal.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Chelmsford railway station at around 10.20am today (29 October) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
