Suspect faces charges after reported incidents in October

A 37-year-old man has been charged with seven counts of indecent exposure following reports of incidents in Chafford Hundred in October.

Michael Sode, of Drake Road, Chafford Hundred, was arrested after a detailed investigation into repeated instances where a man allegedly exposed himself to women.

On 18th and 19th October, a series of similar incidents were reported in Chafford Hundred, prompting investigators to link them together. A public appeal for witnesses was issued shortly after, with police asking for help to progress their case.

The investigation, assisted by information provided by the public, led to Sode’s arrest and subsequent charges. He is now scheduled to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 14th January 2026.

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Blakesley expressed gratitude to those who came forward, saying:

“I hope this reassures the public and those who have reported incidents to us that we’ve taken this really seriously.

“I would like to thank those who came forward to provide information and help us progress our investigation.”
