Ever since Netflix released their hit series You back in September 2018, users of the popular streaming service have been hooked on Joe Goldberg's (Penn Badgley) sinister ways, with many wondering if he can ever get over his own personal hell and find love.

So, when Netflix announced Season 2 would land on 26th December 2019, fans of the show were over the moon, with many binge-watching it over the festive period. Whether you are a You superfan, or are thinking about watching the series as we head towards the fifth and final season, be warned, the below article contains some MAJOR SPOILERS.

You: What happened in season two?

After his sinister acts throughout season one (including the murders of Benji, Peach and Beck), Joe Goldberg moves from New York to Los Angeles in season two, attempting to put his dark past behind him and find love.

In an attempt to start a-fresh, Joe takes on a brand new identity in the form of 'Will Bettelheim', that's after he locks up the real Will and steals his identification. However, in a show of perhaps what is to come in season two, Joe lets Will go free, on the condition he never speaks of the situation to anybody.

After finding a new apartment in the fancy block owned by investigative journalist Delilah, Joe then lands a job in stylish book shop/cafe Anavrin, which is owned by the wealthy Quinn family.

Anavrin goes on to become a major location in season two, not only does Joe go on to 'randomly' meet new love-interest Love Quinn, it's also where we see his friendship with Love's brother Forty Quinn materialise.

As Joe begins to fall for Love, he starts to go back to his old-ways, picturing his ex-girlfriend Beck (who he murdered in season one), and watching Love's every move through his perfectly positioned telescope.

Befriending his new neighbours Delilah and her younger sister Ellie, Joe becomes wary of local celebrity Henderson, using his new bromance with Forty to dig some dirt on the comedian. Upon discovering he has secret sex room in his LA mansion, Joe later finds Polaroid photos of unconscious women, including 15-year-old Ellie.

Upon discovering Ellie has gone over to Henderson's house, Joe watches him drug Ellie's drink, before he takes matters into his own hands and ties him up in the secret sex room. Although his initial intention was only to make Henderson confess about his behaviour, Joe accidentally pushes him down the stairs, where a knock to the head instantly kills him.

Whilst it seems like Joe has covered up the murder of Henderson, things then take a dramatic turn when Forty meets a new a woman (who turns out to be Joe's ex Candace Stone from season one).

As Joe accompanies girlfriend Love to a fancy health retreat for her parent's anniversary, his heart drops upon seeing Forty's date, leaving him on edge throughout the whole trip. In the same episode, Love reveals all about her brother's abusive childhood, before Joe confesses his love for the chef.

In episode six the drama really starts to heat up, as the police begin to think Henderson was murdered, rather than suicide which was initially reported. As friends and family of the comedian attend his funeral, Love hires a private investigator to follow her brother's girlfriend and later catches her breaking in to Joe's apartment.

As Candace confesses her real identity and tells Love who Joe really is, Love pays her off to leave LA, before she confronts Joe about Candace's accusations. Joe being Joe, he persuades Love that Candace is just a psycho ex-girlfriend who has an obsession with him. Unfortunately for Joe, Love ends their relationship, and Joe moves on by sleeping with his neighbour Delilah.

With policeman Fincher growing more and more suspicious of Joe's involvement in murdering Henderson, he tells love-interest Delilah, who later searches Joe's apartment and finds a key to his storage unit. As Delilah takes photos of the unit, Joe is quick to find her and locks her in the glass cage until he plans an escape out of LA.

In episode eight, in an attempt to finish his script, Forty hires two guys to kidnap himself and Joe, locking them in an expensive hotel room and taking all of his possessions away. When Forty gets frustrated and escapes to a bar, Joe follows him and has his drink spiked with LSD, giving him no recollection of the night. Something which isn't helpful when he returns to the hotel room with his hands covered in blood.

On the same night, Joe makes up with Love during an emotional phone call, with the pair agreeing on starting a fresh life.

Things then take a serious sinister turn when Joe returns to his storage unit only to find Delilah dead. Thinking he's committed her murder whilst under the influence of LSD, Joe begins to retrace his steps from his evening with Forty, before Candace turns up to see him standing over Delilah's dead body.

After locking Joe in the cage alongside Delilah, Candace calls Love to prove her innocence, with Joe confessing everything to Love. However, things then take another dramatic twist when Love murders Candace, before telling Joe just how much she loves him.

In the final episode of season two, Love's secrets are unveiled, with her admitting she had set sights on Joe from the beginning (and therefore their original meeting wasn't out of the blue as fans first thought).

Upon unveiling her plan to cover up the murders, Joe is close to murdering Love, before she admits she's expecting the couple's baby, a truth which stops him in the act. This is also the last we see of Forty! After going to confront Joe for murdering Beck, Forty is shot by policeman Fincher, with Love later putting the blame on her brother for the deaths of both Candace and Henderson.

The final scene of You season two leaves a LOT of questions! As Joe and Love move into a new house preparing for the birth of their child, Joe appears to set his sights on his next 'victim'. in the form of a lady sitting in next door's garden reading a book.

Who was in the cast of You season two?

Read up on the You season two cast below, including Penn Badgley, Victoria Pedretti and Jenna Ortega.

For those seasoned fans of the show - you can check out the full cast from You seasons one - five here.

Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgely)

Of course, main character Joe returned for Season Two, where he escaped to Los Angeles after murdering Beck, Peach, Ron and Lou in Season One.

Penn is probably best known - aside from You - for his role in Gossip Girl, where he played Dan Humphrey and ended up being revealed as the eponymous Gossip Girl. He also appeared in films John Tucker Must Die and Easy A, amongst others.

Candace (Ambyr Childers)

She played the role of Joe's ex-girlfriend Candace in Season One, and actress Ambyr Childers also appears in Season Two, but this time in real life, not just in Joe's head. Ambyr has starred in various films, but is best known for her roles in You and All My Children as Colby Chandler.

Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti)

After fleeing to Los Angeles, Joe met his brand new love interest... in the form of Love Quinn - quite the ironic name! Love ended up being just as unhinged as Joe, and there was a shock twist at the end... Which we'll keep on the DL in case you've not seen it yet!

Victoria had a bumper 2019, not only landing the main role of Love in You but also portraying a member of the Manson Family in Quentin Tarantino's blockbuster, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She also starred in The Haunting of Hill House as Nell Crain in 2018, and will appear in the sequel The Haunting of Bly Manor as Dani.

Forty Quinn (James Scully)

Actor James Scully plays the role of Love Quinn's brother, Forty Quinn. His character is described as, "Confident, opinionated and privileged — at his best, a charming buddy; at his worst, a razor-sharp bully."

James is best known for his role on You, but also had a small role in series Quantico and 9-1-1, as well as a larger role on Heathers.

Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail)

Guinevere, or Beck, was a main character in season one, appearing as a guest in season 2. She was a student and aspiring writer, who became the obsession of Joe in the first season and eventually his girlfriend, before finding out the truth... Sadly, she didn't survive and he killed her. She briefly appeared in the second series in Joe's hallucinations. Elizabeth also played the role of Anna in Once Upon A Time.

Peach Salinger (Shay Mitchell)

Shay played Beck's best friend Peach in the first season - and was also in love with her, but this was sadly unrequited, as she just loved her as a friend. Peach became jealous and suspicious of Joe - and when they had a huge fight, he killed her. Shay has also starred in Pretty Little Liars, The Possession of Hannah Grace and Dollface.

Gabe Miranda (Charlie Barnett)

Charlie Barnett plays the role of Love Quinn's best friend in You Season Two. Best known for being star of Netflix series Russian Doll, Charlie also starred in Chicago Fire, Orange Is the New Black and Tales of the City as well as Arrow.

Delilah (Carmela Zumbado)

Actress Carmela Zumbado took on the role of investigative journalist Delilah, and it didn't take her long to realise something is funny about Joe. Carmela has also starred in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and NCIS: New Orleans.

Ellie Alves (Jenna Ortega)

You'll probably recognise Jenna Ortega from Jane The Virgin, but now she's landed the role of teenager Ellie Alves in You, Delilah's younger sister. She also had a small role in Iron Man 3, Elena of Avalor, Stuck in the Middle and CSI: NY.

Will Bettelheim (Robin Lord Taylor)

Although the character of Will was kept quite mysterious ahead of the second series being released, we now know that he's a hacker who deals with 'unsavory' things. Joe assumes his identity for a while.

Robin had a small part in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Law & Order, Life on Mars, The Good Wife The Walking Dead and Gotham.

Dottie Quinn (Saffron Burrows)

Saffron Burrows joined the show in the second season as Love and Forty's mum Dottie, who is revealed to also be a dodgy character. She has a strained relationship with both of her children thanks to the secret trauma they went through.

Saffron has been in a number of high profile films over the years, but might be best known for her roles in Deep Blue Sea, Enigma, Troy, Boston Legal and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..

Dr. Nicky (John Stamos)

Dr. Nicky was Beck's therapist in the first season, and had a guest role in the second. He also treated Joe, and when Joe discovered his affair with Beck, Joe framed him for the murders of Peach, Beck and Beck's other lover, Benji.

John is well-known in US TV, having starred in General Hospital, Full House, ER, Glee and Scream Queens, amongst others.
