It's really been that long!

Ever since the rebooted version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? last year with former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson at the helm, viewers have been eagerly awaiting a winner of the top prize. Which is, of course, one million pounds...

However, rather shockingly, no WWTBAM contestant has even made it to the final round of questions on the show - not only in the new version of the show, but since 2006. That's 12 years since the last time a contestant made it to the final question.

But that's all about to change in tonight's episode of the show (4th March), with an English teacher from Birmingham leaving Jeremy open-mouthed as he gets to the final round of questioning.

Although ITV have understandably decided against revealing whether he will take home the jackpot, insiders have revealed that it is a "fantastic game" and that the contestant struggles with the £2,000 question and has to use a lifeline to continue.

Jeremy Clarkson reportedly says, "Well, I can hardly believe it. I didn’t actually believe I’d say it but I’m going to..." as the question is apparently to do with British politics.

The last person to win the show was Ingram Wilcox in September 2006 with former host Chris Tarrant handing over the cheque. As one of only five winners of the jackpot, the other people to have taken home £1 million are Pat Gibson in 2004, Robert Brydges and David Edwards in 2001 as well as Judith Keppel in 2000, who now plays on quiz show Eggheads.

Of course, there was also Charles Ingram in 2001, but he was found to have cheated with his wife and their friend, lecturer Tecwen Whittock, who coughed in the audience every time Charles read out a correct answer. He was later convicted of fraud.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? airs on ITV tonight at 9pm.
