Bosses over at Prime Video delighted users last year when they announced they'd decided to adapt E. Lockhart's best-selling novel We Were Liars into an eight-part drama.
Written and Executive Produced by co-showrunners Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie, the show also sees Emily Cummins and author E. Lockhart on board as Executive Producers, whilst Universal Television and Amazon MGM Studios are behind the project.
Head of Television for Amazon and MGM Studios Vernon Sanders said ahead of production: “Lockhart, Julie Plec, and Carina Adly MacKenzie are each brilliant at creating complex characters and we’re looking forward to teaming up with these incredible storytellers, along with Universal Television, to bring this show to life.”
What is it about?
Prime Video's official synopsis reads: 'We Were Liars follows Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her tight-knit inner circle, nicknamed the Liars, during their summer escapades on her grandfather's New England private island.
''The Sinclairs are American royalty-known for their good looks, old money, and enviable bond - but after a mysterious accident changes Cadence's life forever, everyone, including her beloved Liars, seems to have something to hide.'

The full-length trailer was released on 3rd June. In the trailer viewers get to see a haunting glimpse into the secrets and tragedies that unfold on the secluded island, where the series is set.

Meryl Streep's daughter Mamie Gummer also features in the series, playing the role of Carrie Sinclair.
