Netflix users are just discovering old drama with Vicky McClure and Morven Christie
It's called The Replacement
Although it first aired on BBC One way back in 2017, binge-worthy drama series The Replacement has been added to streaming platform Netflix this week, and fans are only just discovering the 'addictive' drama.
Starring Line of Duty's Vicky McClure and The Bay's Morven Christie, The Replacement is a three-part psychological thriller which was set and filmed in Glasgow, Scotland.
What is The Replacement about?
The official synopsis reads: 'When successful architect Ellen becomes pregnant, she hires Paula as her maternity cover. However, Ellen soon fears that Paula is taking over both her professional and personal life.'

When did it first air?
The Replacement first hit our TV screens way back in 2017, with episode one airing on BBC One on 28th February. Episode two then aired on 7th March 2017, with the final episode taking place on 14th March 2017.
All three episodes received over eight million viewers at the time.
Where was it filmed?
The drama was both filmed and set in Glasgow, Scotland in the Summer of 2016.
Will there be a second series?
Unfortunately as The Replacement was only a mini-series, there are no plans for any more series.
The show's creator Joe Ahearne told Radio Times at the time: "It's very much a self-contained drama.
"I am very much a fan of beginning, middle and end, and quite a lot of drama on telly both here and in America they want it to be all middle. They like it to go on forever.
"When I am a viewer I don’t necessarily want to commit 20 hours of myself to something. So very few stories really repay that. It’s the commercial imperative of TV, it’s what everyone wants."

Starring Richard Armitage and Jing Lusi, ITV/STV's adrenaline-filled drama Red Eye is set on an overnight flight from London to Beijing and the corridors of power within Whitehall. Fans were quick to binge the six-part drama when it aired in April 2024. The series how now been renewed for a second series, set to air in 2025 with Martin Compston joining the cast.
Vigil (BBC iPlayer)
It was the BBC's most-watched new drama of 2021, so you don't want to miss out on Vigil, starring Suranne Jones and Martin Compston. Series two was released in December 2023, with all episodes now available to binge. In February 2025, BBC bosses announced the show has been renewed for a third series.
Until I Kill You (ITVX and STV Player)
Starring Anna Maxwell Martin, Until I Kill You is based on the extraordinary true story of Delia Balmer, who survived a near-fatal relationship with serial killer John Sweeney. The four-part drama started in November 2024, with all episodes now available on ITVX and STV Player.

Vicky McClure plays the role of EXPO officer Lana Washington in high octane drama Trigger Point. In October 2024, news was announced that the show has been commissioned for a third series, with filming due to take place in 2025.
