Outspoken talent judge Simon Cowell has announced that there will be a brand new series of Britain's Got Talent airing this autumn, alongside the much loved original show.

Britain's Got Talent: The Champions will feature winners and finalists from previous series competing against each other.

Speaking on the news, Simon said, "So we’ve now got AGT and we’ve got AGT Champions. That was a very good change so there will be a BGT Champions. We are 100 per cent not resting on our laurel."

The show will, of course, be hosted by the much-loved, regular presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, who recently reunited after Ant took a year off his showbiz duties to focus on his recovery from addictions to alcohol and prescription painkillers.

Despite Ant taking 2018 off from showbiz, the Geordie duo recently picked up the Best Presenter award at the 2019 National Television Awards. Up against Bradley Walsh, Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield and Graham Norton, the pair were crowned once again, as they have since it started in the 90s.

The 59-year-old's announcement follows the success of the American version of the show - America's Got Talent: The Champions. The American show, featuring 57-year-old Scottish legend Susan Boyle, has proved incredibly popular, raking in over 10 million viewers.

As Simon spoke of the "exciting" plans for the ITV shows, he also revealed plans to introduce a celebrity version of The X Factor, along with an all-star edition with former contestants. This news follows the X Factor's plummet in ratings over recent years.
