Her performance was incredible

It's the story we all thought we knew - the Army Major who cheated on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? back in 2001 with his wife and one other person. Charles and Diana Ingram were both found guilty after the coughing scandal 20 years ago, and were since the subject of a dramatisation of the events.
Following the heartbreaking news of Helen McCrory's passing, fans have been reminiscing over her memorable portrayal of Sonia Woodley QC in the three-part drama.
The series, which showed what happened leading up to Charles' fateful day in the chair as well as the day itself and the aftermath, was widely praised - not least for Michael Sheen's incredible portrayal of show host Chris Tarrant.
Despite the trio - Charles and Diana Ingram as well as their 'accomplice' Tecwen Whittock - being found guilty all those years ago, a speech made by their defence lawyer in the dramatic finale really made many people question whether they could, in fact, be innocent.
Helen McCrory's character Sonia Woodley QC gave an incredibly compelling argument in her closing statement of the court case, using various examples of psychology to explain how they could very well be innocent.
At the time, viewers of the show took to Twitter to write about how they were left confused over what to believe - with many praising Helen's performance. One wrote, 'I think Helen McCrory in #Quiz could convince me the earth was flat', and another added, 'Can we all take a moment to appreciate what a fantastic actress Helen McCrory is?'
One other wrote, 'The Ingrams should have had Helen McCrory as their lawyer in real life... They might have even got away with it!' and another viewer added, 'Dame Helen McCrory’s sensational performance has now convinced me of the Ingram’s innocence.'
