Aprons at the ready, it's 'coming soon'!
Last updated 3rd Sep 2021
We can all breathe a sigh of relief, as The Great British Bake Off have officially began to tease the upcoming 2021 series. Yes, that's right, despite not revealing a specific return date yet, show bosses shared a clip of the much-loved baking tent, confirming that it will be back on our screens 'soon'.
Sharing the teaser clip to the Bake Off's official Twitter account, they wrote: 'Loaf is in the air... The Great British Bake Off. Coming Soon. #GBBO'.
Judge Paul Hollywood thrilled fans of the show back in July, teasing the new series of The Great British Bake Off by sharing the first post from the forthcoming series on his own Instagram.
The judge, and keeper of the esteemed Hollywood Handshake, shared an image of the famous Bake Off tent on his Instagram, shortly following England's defeat to Italy in the Euro 2020 final.
After a nail-biting round of penalties, the presenter and Bake Off judge wrote: 'After all the disappointment, I need the tent to cheer me up, “hello old friend”.’
The incredibly popular show, now in it's 12th series, began filming in June and is set to return to Channel 4 in the autumn.
Like in the 2020 series, the latest group of contestants were forced to form a Covid-19 bubble ahead of filming, with Covid tests and social distancing taking place.
Matt Lucas, who replaced Sandy Toksvig to help present GBBO in 2020, returns to the tent alongside co-host Noel Fielding for series 12.
Earlier this year, Matt Lucas told Lorraine Kelly: "We’re starting filming very soon. And like last year, we’re going into a bubble. All self-isolating and getting tested.
"And then we’re going into Covid-free bubble, so we can all taste each other’s bakes, and there can be handshakes and all sorts."
He added: "I’ve seen the video clips of all the new bakers, and there’s some brilliant ones in there."
Last year, Peter Hawkins, a student from Edinburgh, took home the coveted Bake Off trophy and became the competition's youngest-ever winner at 20-years-old.
