Miriam Margolyes admits why she TURNED DOWN The Celebrity Traitors
She's a true national treasure
It's fair to say BBC bosses have absolutely delivered with the cast for the first ever series of The Celebrity Traitors, serving up personalities such as Alan Carr, Celia Imrie and Clare Balding.
But one name that was missing from the iconic line-up was Miriam Margolyes, with reality TV fans saying she would be the 'perfect' person to appear on the show.
Miriam has become a national treasure over the years, not only for her amazing acting skills and comedy sketches, but also for her hilarious personality and no-nonsense interviews, where she often lets slip rude words and over-shares personal stories.
Is Miriam Margolyes going on The Celebrity Traitors?
As we all enjoy the current series and laugh uncontrollably at Alan's efforts of being a Traitor, Miriam has actually now confirmed she was approached for the show.
The 84-year-old appeared at the Cheltenham Literature Festival over the weekend, and when she was asked about the potential of appearing on the show, she gasped: "Well, I can tell you the answer to that. No! I was offered this job. No. Just recently and I can't think of anything I’d rather less do.
"No, I’m not into that. I’ve never watched it; I don’t intend to watch it. There is some jolly good people doing it.
"And if they want to do it for money, well, that’s fair enough but you won’t get me on it."
Well, that's our hopes of Miriam signing up for series two fully scuppered! ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Despite Miriam not appearing, the first ever celebrity edition of the show is proving a huge hit with fans, with the show pulling in almost 12 million viewers in its first week, and creating some of the best memes ever to land online.
With Alan Carr, Cat Burns and Jonathan Ross as Traitors, the trio have so far gone undetected, managing to get rid of Paloma Faith, Niko Omilana, Tom Daley, Tameka Empson, Ruth Codd and Clare Balding.
The series continues every Wednesday and Thursday nights, with BBC bosses now confirming the final will take place in a 70-minute event on Thursday 6th November.
