Matt Lucas responds to rumours about a Little Britain reboot
The show last aired in 2006
It was way back in 2006 when the final episode of sketch show Little Britain aired, and ever since rumours have been rife about a reboot, despite the show being criticised for being "explicitly racist and outdated."
As old episodes of Little Britain have aired in recent weeks, rumours have been swirling that creators Matt Lucas and David Walliams have been working together to create new episodes of the controversial show.
Is Little Britain coming back?
However, Matt has now taken to social media to shut down the rumours of a reboot, writing: 'Sorry to disappoint you (or delight you) but the stories in the papers about me and David writing a new series of Little Britain are not true. We’re working on a different idea'. (sic)
Although Matt didn't reveal the project he's working on alongside David, fans were quick to express their excitement.
One wrote: 'The fact that the two of you are working on something makes me happy enough', with another adding: 'Looking forward to whatever you guys are working on'. (sic)
A third commented: 'I'm just glad we are getting something new from you both been to long.👍'. (sic)

Despite initially starting as a radio show, Little Britain was adapted for TV and aired between 2003-2006, involving exaggerated parodies of British people from various walks of life.
As well as writing the show, Matt and David also played the roles in the cast, with memorable characters such as Andy Pipkin, Vicky Pollard and Daffyd Thomas.
In recent years, Little Britain has been removed from a number of UK streaming platforms, with BBC bosses confirming in March 2022 that the show would be available to view on BBC iPlayer again, but with a lot of the controversial characters and scenes being cut out.
