Coronation Street viewers will be left devastated this week when fan-favourite character Sinead Tinker reveals the tragic news to her family that she only has weeks left to live. In a storyline which has touched the hearts of the nation, the young woman has been given a terminal cancer diagnosis after having ovarian cancer last year.

Despite making a recovery, Sinead recently found out that the cancer is back - and that there's nothing doctors can do about it. Katie has already filmed her final scenes on the soap, and Sinead's death is expected very soon.

Now, after leaving the soap, Katie appears to have been focussing on her fitness - taking to Instagram to share snaps of her rather gruelling workout. Sharing two pictures of herself at the gym, Katie praised her personal trainer for helping her get motivated.

She wrote, 'Week 2 @up_north_pt ! 🏋🏼‍♀️ I am feeling much better this week and feel like I am finally getting into the swing of training again. I have a love/hate relationship with my 1:1s with @oliviadevall 🤣, but it makes such a difference having someone there pushing you.

'My will power is definitely kicking in, I attended a baby shower surrounded by 🍰🍩🥂🍪 and usually when I have trained I think well fudge it & give into the cake! But not this time! Liv watches my every move & really keeps me motivated - I don’t think I would have stuck to the diet so far without her. 💜 Bring on next week! 💪🏼 .'

Fans flocked to the comments section to congratulate Katie on her progress, and praise her for being honest about her occasional struggles with willpower. One wrote, 'I've just started back at the gym, it's hard going but I am determined to get back in shape, it's not a race, I am the tortoise and will get there, keep going, you are doing amazing.'

Of leaving Corrie, Katie told Digital Spy that her last day on the set was "weird", adding, "You don't really realise the impact that it has in the outside world. When I heard about the story, I jumped at the chance.

"So far, I have had so many messages from young women who have gone for their smears because of what they've seen on screen and they've found pre-cancerous cells which is really saving someone's life. I'm not saying I am superwoman but it's really humbling to hear something like that."
