Harry Styles' parents had an unusual reaction to his new music

Former One Direction member Harry Styles released his debut solo single today (7th April) and he's very proud of it.

Harry Styles caught up with our very own Darryl Morris from the evening show and told us what his parents thought of his new music.

His style is quite different to One Direction's and he's described it as the music he wants to listen to. When he played a song from his forthcoming album for his mum and stepdad he was surprised at the reaction he got.

According to Harry's stepdad one of the songs on his album sounds like it has a duck on it! It's actually just a vocal effect, so Harry's reaction was, "that's not a duck, but alright, cool. Thanks!"

Harry's mum had a very different reaction to his album with Harry saying she cried a couple of times, but he thought that was a "good reaction".

He hasn't revealed much about his debut album, but he has said we won't have to wait too long, describing it as work he is "super proud" of.

Harry shot to fame back in 2010 when he auditioned for The X Factor as a solo artist. Later in the show, music mogul Simon Cowell assembled boyband One Direction made up of Harry, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.

Despite finishing third on the show, One Direction went on to become one of the biggest selling boybands and scored a massive 14 top ten hits, including four number ones.
