Back in March, EastEnders was one of the first soaps to postpone filming due to the current Coronavirus pandemic, but now, as lockdown rules begin to ease, it sounds like some of the cast could be back to work soon.

Charlotte Moore, BBC's director of content, has spoken to The Telegraph, revealing filming for the soap could resume by the end of June.

She said, "We’ve been looking carefully at how we can safely put some of our shows back into production, and I’m pleased to announce that we plan to begin filming again on both EastEnders and Top Gear by the end of June.

"We’re also exploring ways to restart shooting on dramas and other major BBC shows. Of course, we will work within Government guidelines. Crews will be strictly limited.

"Cast members will do their own hair and make-up. Social distancing will be in place."

Back in March, BBC bosses released a statement revealing production of EastEnders had been postponed.

It read, "In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, it has been decided that filming on EastEnders will be postponed until further notice. The decision was made after the latest government update.

"We will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the World Health Organisation and Public Health England. We have also taken the decision to reduce the amount of episodes we broadcast each week to two, so that we can ensure the audience can continue to enjoy EastEnders in their homes for as long as possible."

Since then, EastEnders has been running on a reduced schedule of just two episodes per week.

However, with the news from Charlotte, it looks like we could be seeing more episodes of the popular soap very soon!
