Coronation Street fans everywhere breathed a sigh of relief when Pat Phelan was taken away in a body bag last year. The villainous builder, who eventually went on a murderous rampage during his stint in Weatherfield, was FINALLY killed by Anna Windass when she stabbed him.

Although he was a villain and ruined the lives of many Corrie residents, there was a slight sadness among viewers when he'd gone - after all, he's the killer we all loved to hate.

And whilst he is definitely dead and gone - remember when he fell off a cliff and survived?! - his reign of terror has had a lasting effect on Weatherfield, and he'll even claim another victim from beyond the grave.

Die-hard Corrie fans know that Peter Barlow's boat fire has caused serious damage to the factory roof, and that it needs to be replaced - which will lead to the roof's collapse in an upcoming episode and the death of a character.

And in last night's episode, viewers discovered that it's partly Phelan's fault, as Gary Windass explained to Carla Connor, "Phelan did a bodge job. The joists are too short. They’ve been calculated wrong so they’re sitting on makeshift supports."

Well, he did have a lot on his plate - what with hiding the bodies of Michael Rodwell, Vinny Ashford, Andy Carver and Luke Britton.

Sadly for Carla, it's going to cost her a whopping £60,000 to fix - an amount of money that she simply doesn't have, which led her to ask him to fix it as best as he can for a more affordable price.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
