The news that Changing Rooms would be returning to our screens in the near future has excited fans of the show up and down the country. The show, which originally aired between 1996 to 2004, saw hosts Carol Smilie and later Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen help friends and neighbours transform each others' homes.

Channel 4 confirmed the show was to return in October, with Laurence returning along with new host and nation's sweetheart Davina McCall - and now Laurence has spoken out about resurrecting Changing Rooms.

In an interview with Hello! magazine, Laurence revealed what we can expect from the reboot, "I'll be charging across the British landscape. It will be big, bold, dramatic, fast-moving, funny, and with a bit of panto.

"There'll be exoticism, decadence, gothicism and even drag, too – I became addicted to RuPaul's Drag Race in lockdown so watch out, I'm going to be RuPaul-ing the world."

He also confirmed on This Morning that none of the other faces from the show will be returning, adding, "We’re going for a complete new reinvigoration and it’s going to be my mission to make Britain bright again. There’s going to be an enormous amounts of colour, and I think Davina is absolutely right for this."

Last month, Davina said of the reboot, "I’m so excited to be presenting Changing Rooms. It’s a classic! It’s the perfect time to bring it back, everyone is going DIY and decor mad! I can’t wait to see all the amazing transformations - I might even get stuck in myself if I’m allowed to be let loose with a paint brush!"

Laurence added, "There’s no room for beige in our homes and, just as it was in the 90s, Changing Rooms is once more the homestyle antidote to Britain’s blues (and greys and taupes, and even Magnolia).

"It’s taken quite a lot of coaxing to get me under the Changing Rooms banner once more, but nothing like as much coaxing as it’s going to take for me to squeeze those leather trousers back on."
