Lady Whistledown has spoken!

Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan, who plays the one and only Lady Whistledown herself, Penelope Featherington, has spoken out about rumours that filming has shut down due to COVID-19, claiming it is 'not true'.

As reports began to break that filming for the second series of the hugely popular Netflix show had halted for the third time, due to members of cast and crew testing positive for the virus, Nicola took to Twitter to set the record straight! Replying to a distraught fan, the actress simple wrote: 'It’s not true!'.

As fans of the show will know, Nicola's character Penelope Featherington is pretty much clued up on all of the goings-on in the world of Bridgerton, with the season one finale revealing that she was in fact Lady Whistledown.

The actress, who also stars as Clare in popular Irish sitcom Derry Girls, joined the rest of her Bridgerton cast back in March, as filming for the second season officially began.

Filming for the series did in fact pause back in July, however soon resumed once the crew's isolation period was over, with the show's creator Chris Van Dusen telling Variety: "We are back underway. We had to delay because of COVID, but we're back in it. Right now I'm in post, editing our first couple episodes, which are looking great".

It seems that the show may have quite a lot in store for us, with Netflix confirming that we would be getting at least three more seasons! Starring actress Claudia Jessie got fans even more excited back in February, as she teased that her character, Eloise Bridgerton, was set to 'shake things up'.

Although there is no official release date for Bridgerton season two, we're hoping to welcome the gang back onto our screens by the end of the year.
